While I was at Knitwitts picking up the 2nd ball of yarn for the Pasa Doble shawl I checked out the 40% off wall and after much drooling I bought 4 balls of yarn for projects I had been thinking about for awhile. (And apparently doing projects in 2’s is becoming a trend). Both patterns come from the book ‘The Pattern Companion Knitting’ that I got from Kroger last year for a buck or two. Pretty good selection of patterns overall.

This lovely ball of yarn is called Etoile from Cascade Yarns in color # 21 and it is going to become a Lacy Scarf. The yarn is 70% Kid Mohair and 30 % Acrylic.

Sorry no update on Friday the 12th – I ran out of yarn for the shawl and hadn’t worked on it this past week at all. So Saturday we took a trip to E’ville to Knitwitts and I bought more yarn than I went to get (of course)!
I’m up to 24″ on the shawl now – only a foot left to go… and wow it dosen’t seem like it went by that fast! That jump from 18″ to 24″ was super quick.

I broke up the individual characters from the Mario Brothers cross stitch sampler so they could be stitched separately if you want to – or copy and paste them into your own configuration. I also went through and doubled the size on them – so there’s 1 sheet where they characters are roughly 1″ square and another where they are 2″ square. Email me for the pattern – it’s an Excel sheet. Hopefully I can figure out how to post a downloadable file here soon.

Yay! My seeds came in from Richters! I saved $25 by not ordering the Blood Root or the Goldenseal (can you believe that? $15 for a pack of seeds? Bit rich for my blood, at least this year). But I still got the Agrimony, Yellow Bedstraw, Coreopsis, Elecampane, Dyer’s Broom, Scotch Broom, Coltsfoot, Curled Dock, Garden Sorrel, Golden Margurite, and Tansy. They didn’t sell the Gypsywort anymore, dang it – though it was one of the pricy one’s so I probably wouldn’t have gotten it anyway. All except the Coreopsis are supposed to be perennial (but it should reseed I would think); I am concerned about the Scotch Broom – Cindy M had one and it didn’t come back after the winter. We’ll see! Can’t wait to sprout these bad boys.

Finished the back of the Vest Kimono – 24″ – Yay! And halfway through the shawl – 17.5″! ‘Course there would have been more progress on the shaw but I spent half the week screwing up one pass, then I ignored for 2 days while I debated throwing a crying tantrum in the floor… and then I fixed it. So kudos for me for not throwing in the towel… or the tantrum
